We, at Island Soap are proud to announce that we are now making our soaps Palm Oil free!!

Unfortunately, not only does palm oil promote heart disease, but the plantations that grow palm trees have contributed to the destruction of the rainforest and wildlife of Southeast Asia.

Demand for palm oil, a vegetable oil present in 1 in 10 supermarket products and almost all commercially made soap is the most significant cause of rainforest loss.

In brief, the palm oil industry is devastating the unique flora and fauna in the Asia Pacific region as well as exploiting local communities who are being forced off their land. If palm oil concessions continue to replace forest at the current rate, a viable future for the Orangutan in the wild will be impossible as well as for the Sumatran tiger, Sumatran rhino, Asian elephant and other species that are on the brink of extinction.

Something urgently needs to be done.

Why should you buy our homemade soap you ask? Well, let me tell you!!

Synthetic detergents are found in commercial bar soaps. The products are so harsh that they strip your hair and skin of its healthy moisture. Typically, industrial manufactured soap is made from the fats and oils of animals (tallow and lard) obtained from the meat packing industry. Tallow comes from the fat surrounding the kidneys and loins of cattle, sheep, and horses. Lard is from the tissue of pigs. Tallow is a highly saturated fat and is known to possibly aggravate skin problems.

At Island Soap we make our soaps with natural vegetable oils. Vegetable oils are well known for their ability to absorb and contain moisture.

In addition, when soap is handmade it produces a natural ingredient, glycerine. The glycerine is removed from commercial soaps. As a matter of fact it is no longer soap! Most industrial soap is actually a synthetic detergent bar!!!

Glycerine is the result of the saponification of the oils and is highly moisturizing and conditioning. The glycerine in our soaps attracts moisture to your skin leaving it beautifully soft and moisturized! It enhances your hair and skin.

Make the switch to our homemade natural soap. Your skin will love you for it!!! Our soap is made with all natural ingredients. In some of the soap we have used fragrance oils, which are not natural but are the finest available. Many of the soaps are scented and / or have essential oils.

Our soap is also SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate) free!! Some store bought bars have concentrations of up to 30%, which the ACT report called "highly irritating and dangerous. To read more about this harmful chemical click on the link below.
